Recruitment, Workforce & Employment Trends

The broader IT and tech world is facing turbulence: 2025 continues to see significant layoffs across major tech companies globally. Independent tracking shows more than 22,000 workers have been laid off so far this year alone, across hundreds of firms — a continuation of a larger trend impacting the livelihoods of many employees.

At the same time, there is a marked shift in the kinds of skills and roles that companies are hiring for. According to career-market analyses, demand is surging for roles tied to data science, clean energy, automation, AI, cybersecurity and healthcare-related technology. These sectors are growing two to five times faster than average occupations, and often offer competitive salaries.

What this means: while many traditional tech jobs are being cut, new opportunities are opening in more specialized, future-oriented domains. For job-seekers and professionals, this underscores the need to reskill or upskill — especially if they want to remain competitive in a shifting employment landscape.
